Kristian Uppenberg is Head of Division of Advanced Materials within the Innovation and Competitiveness Department (Projects Directorate) of the European Investment Bank. The department is responsible for the technical and economic due diligence of the EIB’s lending in the areas of digital infrastructure, education and health and public and private sector research, development and innovation. Kristian joined the EIB in 1998, starting off in the Bank’s economic research department with a focus on business sector R&D and innovation. He has been with the EIB’s project directorate since 2011. Before joining the EIB, Kristian has also worked as an economist at Standard & Poors’ DRI in London and at the Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics (SITE). He studied business and economics at the Stockholm School of Economics, followed by a doctorate in Economics at Boston College.
