Ditlev Engel has more than 30 years experience as executive leader at DNV GL, wind turbine manufacturer Vestas and coatings manufacturer Hempel. Since 2016 he holds the position of CEO of DNV GL’s energy business, with 2,300 experts in power and renewables around the globe. He has degrees in business administration, finance, accounting and general management from Copenhagen Business School and INSEAD.
Ditlev has always played a very active role in many sustainability and green investment initiatives such as Denmark’s Green Investment Fund, the World Economic Forum, the International Energy Agency, the Green Growth Working Group of G20 Summits, the Green Growth Action Alliance and UN’s Sustainable Energy for All.
In 2009 INSEAD ranked him among the world’s 100 best performing CEOs for creating long-term value to shareholders without losing focus on short-term performance.
In December 2018 Ditlev Engel was appointed as Denmarks special envoy for Climate and Energy to strengthen Denmark’s position in the green transition and support Denmark’s international climate action in the lead up to the UN Climate Summit in September 2019.
